Climate Village Program Education Given to Residents of Tidung Island Urban Village

Today, Thousand Islands Environment (LH) Sub-department held Climate Village Program (Proklim) education in Tidung Ceria Children-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA), Tidung Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands.

We want to educate them to increase their participation in managing environment

It was done to implement Environment Ministry Regulation No. 19/2012 about Climate Village Program as a part of adaptation and mitigation acts against climate change impacts.

Thousand Islands LH Sub-department's Community Participation and Legal Structuring Section Head, Ardian Prahara mentioned, 50 residents from RW 01 of Tidung Island Urban Village participated in this activity.

City-ICLEI to Accelerate Greenhouse Emission Gas Reduction in Jakarta

"We want to educate them to increase their participation in managing environment," he asserted, Friday (9/6).

According to him, residents should participate actively to improve resilience towards climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emission. For example is to build infiltration wells, provide many biopori holes, and maintain ground water quality for food security.

"Besides, they can plant more greens, reduce electricity use, and reduce plastic use," he added.
